1st Ports of Dublin Sea Scouts – Ringsend was the venue for the 2022 Sea Scouting Ireland’s Annual Master Mariner competition.
This year, thirteen competitors from Arklow, Malahide, Ringsend, Greystones, and Howth Sea Scouts, were tested in their nautical knowledge. The core modules examined this year were ropework and meteorology, along with various other modules assessing their knowledge across a wide range of nautical topics.
The winner of the Venture Scout competition is awarded the Capt. Des Fortune award. Capt. Des Fortune was the first president of the Irish Institute of Master Mariners. This year, the IIMM has offered the winners a day trip on the Commissioners of Irish Lights vessel, ILV Granuaile.
